Will I need a new modem if I get broadband?

Answered By Brayden Eckles, Editor

Yes. This is because your standard telephone modem can never cope with the speed and the different way a broadband works. Broadband modems also convert your conventional telephone line to have internet access and voice calls at the same time. When you upgrade to broadband internet, your broadband service provider will usually be the one to provide you with the broadband modem for free, or in some cases, you will be buying or renting the modem from them.
